The Problem

Since our dogs have put holes and pulls into our couch, I was looking for a way to avoid having to buy a whole new couch.

We bought the couch about three years ago on Overstock. It’s a sectional with ottoman in dark gray.

I was able to patch a couple of small-ish holes using upholstery foam and fabric from throw pillows that are the same fabric as the couch (a great tip I found on online).

Unfortunately, a larger hole proved to be more difficult. Of course, once I started searching for solutions, my Instagram feed was flooded with ads for couch covers.

The Product

I decided to try Nolan Interiors Magic Sofa Covers and got them on sale. They came promptly and are packaged in individual bags.

Caveat here – my bottom cushions are attached to the couch base. This means that I can’t get a tight fit. Overall, these are very easy to put on and are stretchy. I was worried about the corner section since it’s an odd size and shape and it wasn’t a problem to make it fit.

I was pleased with how neat it looked and it solved the problem of the holes.

The End Result

Now a month or so later, I wish I could report better results. We have washed the covers once and they came out beautifully. However, that corner cushion I was so pleased with has multiple holes. And the covers are regularly popping off and need to be put back on.

Overall, these Nolan covers aren’t working for me. Do you have suggestions on how to repair and protect my couch?
