Spray paint is an inexpensive and easy way to refresh furniture or other housewares. I’ve used Rust-oleum Painter’s Touch 2x UltraCover on a few projects for the lake house. Check out the gallery below for the finished projects.
1) Bathroom mirror. My cousin gave us her old bathroom mirror which was in good shape but the natural wood wasn’t going to match the room design.
Fiona taped off the mirror, sanded the wood with low grit sandpaper and then used a tack cloth to remove any dust. She then used two coats of black spray paint, lightly sanded and tack clothed between coats. We love how it came out!
2) End table. Fiona also took on the task of refreshing an end table that was left at the property. She sanded it down using a hand sander and finished with a sanding block. She wanted to do a two-tone so the base is flat black and the top is satin leafy green. Like the mirror, we sanded between coats and used a tack cloth. The table looks great in the guest room.
3) Cabinet hardware. The kitchen cabinets from Restore came with a brushed nickel hardware. I liked the shape and design but thought black would look better against the new cabinet color.
After removing the hardware, I washed them with TSP to remove any grease residue and dirt. I had some old foam packing material that I poked the screws through and then screwed the knobs on top.
Two coats of flat black paint later and the knobs look brand new.
